A good 8 years ago someone in the office pointed me to the ‘Little Ninjai’. Short (way to short) but so cool webisodes (yeah they existed back then, just not with the same name) of this little kid-Ninja reacking havock for this evil emperor. The webisodes where long and far between, until, one day, they stopped completely. I remember them so well, since download speed left a lot to be desired then (I had no high speed at home), I kept looking at that spinning Logo for so long, and I wanted to wait.
Well, the times they change, and little Ninjai has become KarmaKula, and this fella is no Flash no More, no he is a real guy, behind some grainy camera effects. It looks like a crossover between Bollywood and a dirtcheap bad Hollywood production. What a dissapointment. Having waited for so many years, and we do not even get to see what happens to the Little’un. Instead we see a dude walk across plains in Slowmotion. Being advised to ‘adjust your volume’. Though the name rocks, I have to admit, KarmaKula is a very catchy name, the concept is really beyond me. Maybe they will catch new generation of followers with this new concept, but I am unsubscribing from the Ninjai Gang, and will continue to go to ninjai.com to reminisce…but in the age of online zapping, I am zapping out KarmaKula, it is like watching one of those many car ads we saw over the last years. The slow motion camera with some touchy feely words that make absolutely no sense what so ever…change the channel please…
A comment email that I received:
Hey I’m also a fan of Ninjai I read your blog about their new series (which by the way i’m quite interested in, but each to their own) I just didn’t think it was fair to say that Ninjai has turned into Karma Kula. I’ve been following there stuff since 2005 and they’ve quite clearly announced that their new live action series is a seperate project that Ninjai and that they are actually currently working on a Ninjai feature film as a seperate production. I just thought i’d mention that, although it’s been a long time coming Ninjai seems to still be alive, despite their releasing a new series….
anyway, cheers. I’m a flash developer and I like a lot of your blogging – keep up the good work
thanks<
