The mouse has been around for too long. It and the keyboard have hijacked the experience of exploring data for too long. Today a friend published a site, which, incedently, does look real nice. And I hope that it will be a grand success. A site that covers two decisive elements. Usability and good looks. And it might even be called ‘user-friendly’, given the environment, that we are given to explore, use and shape data at this given time. But yesterday, while talking about a new project at work I did, once again, bring up the possibility of using the camera to detect movement initiating data interaction as well as the Wii-Mote experiments by Johnny Lee. And it makes me wonder. How much longer do we need to be confided to a keyboard and a 2D screen when interacting with Data.
In a previous post I published a video of a Ted Talk about putting ‘Africa into the computer‘.
So I hope that hope that putting ‘human’ into the computer, is a project that is making headway as well. If you know of interesting projects in that direction, please let me know. My arms are hurting…
